I always ❤ weddings that are full of sweetness & love. Darla & Matt are just that, full of love for each other & a pleasure to be around. Add in a fabulous purple & fuchsia palette, along with romantic vintage bouquets of roses & anemones & spiced with fresh raspberries = LOVE!

Purple is always a big color for weddings. It pairs well with many palettes & adds depth to many designs. It’s noted for regality, nobility, wealth, dignity, extravagance, magic & mystery. What bride doesn’t want a little bit of that on her special day?! Callas are one of those flowers often used in purple designs, there are many shades from lavender, grape, plum, & eggplant black. But the true gem lies in the Picasso calla. It’s a white calla with a gorgeous deep plum stripe running from it’s tip down the length of it’s flower. This fun, modern wedding combined deep purples with bright green. Lots of callas, hydrangea, orchids, bells of Ireland, & moon shade carnations.

A Natural Trend…

Trends always come & go, but one with staying power has always been “natural design”. Whether you are self described vintage, eclectic, bohemian, posh, vibrant, modern, eco, or dramatic, natural is still at home with all of them. I hear from brides all the time, “I love the natural feel of this design”, or “I don’t want a styled event that looks over-fussed”. Which of course I love! One of my signature elements in my design work is incorporating raw, natural materials with lush flowers. Many times seed pods, twigs, berries, cotton bolls, and the like make their way into my designs. It’s a great way to add texture into a bouquet, without being too overwhelming to view.

Abby & Jude went with a very DIY, eco-chic, natural vibe…

love the burlap, vintage shutters, & family tree

lots of greens & whites with hydrangea, dahlias, berries, orchids, & artemisia

love birds were incorporated in stationary, the sweets table, & salt & pepper shakers

Even on plates at the sweetheart table

windows were dressed in burlap runners with candles in sand & more green hydrangea & amaranthus (bride DIY)

Ali & Matthew went with a natural elegance style full of vintage charm – authentic blue glass masons mixed with an old bicycle…so sweet!

Ali’s bouquet was one of my favorites…soft oranges, peaches, cremes, & ivory, perfect for an elegant late fall wedding. a beautiful mix of ranunculus, garden roses, anemones, seeded eucalyptus, artemisia, hypericum berry, viburnum berry, rosemary, fringe tulips, & paperwhites. Sigh…love when bulb flowers are back in season!

Ali’s girls carried a softer version of her bouquet, only using creme, ivory, & white, with a hint of blue…perfect to the smoky blue dress

A Look Back…

Sooo…It has been quite a long time since my last post, mainly since I just never seem to have enough time to go through my pictures, from all these fabulous weddings! I decided to pull together some of my favorites of these past events. As I get farther caught up, I’ll try to give a bit more backstory & details of the day, but for now, just a quick peek!

Succulents have been popular for the last few years, but I do enjoy looking at them in bouquets!

Love, Love, Love the dramatic colors of a rich, dark bouquet. Black callas plus plum ranunculus, always regal!

Curly willow vines & natural greenery have been popular as well

Love parrot tulips! Green bells of Ireland make a statement with a punch of bright green.

This bride & family owned a grocery store & wanted a way to use granny smith apples. a lovely base for bold fuchsia peony blooms!

Nothing sweeter than soft pinks & cremes, all roses are timeless, romantic choices

Grey & yellow have been trend colors. Love the seed heads & pods in this yellow, white, & grey combo

Lavender, Aqua, Silver & Ivory – lovebirds, wishing trees, putting greens, flip-flops, candy buffet, chic barn, candlelight. Sounds pretty amazing, especially since this wedding was a year or so before natural vintage chic became a trend. Davina planned out so many perfect details, in return a perfect July day awaited her & her guests, creating an unforgettable night!

Everything about this wedding was sweet, the couple, the flowers, the cake, the photographers, the day…you get the idea! I loved working with Samantha & Tyler; even though they lived out of state, it was great connecting over meetings, email & phone chats! The talented Rita & Joel (the Wiebners) provided these beautiful pics. Love the lighting captured in them, so warm & lovely, just like Samantha & Tyler together!

New Year!

My hopeful New Year’s resolution is to blog more (which if I do 1, I’m pretty sure that’s better already!), but I first will try to send out a few more quick pics of past weddings, to get me closer to current! So here goes! Crossing my fingers that more will come sooner than later, though I’m excited for my first 2012 weddings, less than 3 weeks away!
